Today we learnt the devastating news that Andrew Weatherall, one of the UK's most respected proponents of underground music, passed away at the age of 56.

Weatherall passed away in the early hours of Monday morning at a hospital in East London. Known as a gifted producer, he produced Primal Scream's iconic Screamadelica album. He also founded and wrote most of the articles for Boy's Own, the fanzine which documented the explosion of Acid House and free parties in the UK during the late 80s. Most recently you could find him teaming up with longterm friend, Sean Johnston for their celebrated A Love From Outer Space DJ project.

In a statement, his management said: "We are deeply sorry to announce that Andrew Weatherall, the noted DJ and musician passed away in the early hours of this morning, Monday 17th February 2020, at Whipps Cross Hospital, London. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism. He was being treated in hospital but unfortunately, the blood clot reached his heart. His death was swift and peaceful."

An outpouring of grief came from across the electronic music community, we've collected some of the messages from peers and fans below.

RIP Andrew
