On the 24th anniversary of his death, Jellybean Benitez pays tribute to Larry Levan
Larry Levan is probably the most highly regarded DJ in the history of dance music culture. His legendary residency at New York's Paradise Garage inspired a whole generation of DJs, producers and club owners to spread the scene around the world. He even inspired out founder, Justin Berkmann, to open Ministry of Sound in the Paradise Garage's image.
It was a dark day in dance music, then, when news of Larry's death struck on 8th November 1992. To mark the 24th anniversary since we lost Larry, Paradise Garage regular and accomplished DJ, producer, and impresario, Jellybean Benitez has recorded a heartfelt mix.
Jellybean, whose many achievements include discovering Madonna, will be taking to the Ministry of Sound decks on Sunday 27th November for our A Night In Paradise event.
A Night In Paradise will celebrate the ethos of the Paradise Garage in the club it inspired. It'll feature a lineup of Paradise Garage legends and regulars, all in aid of a very good cause.
