The Reggae Show
From Rocksteady to Roots, Dancehall to Dub – It’s the Reggae Show on Ministry of Sound Radio.
On rotation, Join Ashley Beedle and David Hill from Rootikal and Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad from Trojan Sound System every Sunday, 4pm – 6pm ONLY on Ministry of Sound Radio.
Rootikal
Rootikal first opened it's doors at London’s East Village in since December 2008 and continues to mix up the best in contemporary and revival roots reggae.
Resident selectors at the club night are David Hill, Earl Gateshead, Stuart Patterson and Mr Faso, and they are joined by regular guests including the mighty David Rodigan, Mikey Dread & Ras Kayleb of London’s Channel One, Aba Shanti I, Ashley Beedle, Nick Mansseh, Russ Disciples and Chris Peckings. Over the years Rootikal has also played host some of reggae’s finest veteran vocalists including Al Campbell, Linval Thompson, Michael Prophet and Errol Bellot.
The resident selectors have a diverse background - Earl as the selector with the Trojan Sound System, David from the Ballistic Brothers (with Ashley Beedle) and then the Nuphonic record label, Stuart as a House DJ and founder of Faith and Mr Faso the Italian youngblood - together bringing their own unique take on reggae music.
Island records recently gave Ashley Beedle and David Hill access to the studio master tapes of some classic Bob Marley and the Wailers sessions so that they could produce their own own mixes. So far they've worked on 'Get Up Stand Up' and 'Natural Mystic', with the mixes being championed by the likes of David Rodigan to great effect. Watch this space, there are more productions on the way.....
The Rootikal selectors continue to spread their musical message, whether on the radio or in the dance: conscious reggae for rootikal people.
Trojan Sound System
Formed in 2004 from London Sound System legends to represent the label in England and throughout the World, the Trojan Sound System has had hugely successful shows at clubs and festivals as a single entity and with the greatest names in reggae. 2012 also sees new material being released through TSS records, already getting huge support from some of the greatest DJs in reggae and bass culture.
Trojan Sound System is Earl Gateshead and Daddy Ad:

Daddy Ad comes from Roots and Reality Soundsystem and has worked with Eek-A-Mouse and Tappa Zukie amongst many others and has always, like Earl, pushed for new sounds and acts to break on though. His experience as a drummer and audiophile has led Ad in a direction to be responsible for the Sound's FXs and Mixing.
Their show represents the 40+ years of the evolution of reggae, from early ska and bluebeat, to rocksteady and reggae rarities, dub, dancehall and the future sound of reggae influenced music from dubstep and drum and bass to soul and funk.
