The Russell Club

You can now enjoy the supersonic vibes of Dave Vega weekdays 12pm - 3pm and each and every Sunday on the Russell Club 10pm to Midnight

Part 1: In the beggining. Dance History

Dave Vega set foot into the Dance world at the tender age of 12 being influenced by a family friend who just so happened to run one of the UK’s most legendary night clubs. Countless nights supposedly spent on home work where spent locked into two turntables and a mixer much to the dismay of his beloved parents. This hobby quickly turned into an obsession and soon every birthday party, summer party, Friday night party was calling out for the in demand turntable duties of Dave Vega. By 16 Dave was Thursday, Friday and Saturday night resident at his home town’s premier night spot, resident at legendary northern Warehouse rave ‘Funky Monkey’ and was by 17 already running two hugely successful promotions NYC Technique and Deep Fuss. By 18 the bright lights of London where calling and Vega’s burning deep desire to DJ at the most prestigious of clubs in particular Ministry of Sound led him to pack his backs and begin a journey of discovery. Within a few months he secured a set alongside Boy George at Ministry of Sound which led him to becoming weekly resident on the Wednesday night  House session MoSNuS. Guest appearances followed at leading London clubs including Turnmills, Fabric and The End but Ministry of Sound had always been Dave’s dream and firmly became his home. In his own words ‘When I got into Dance music Ministry was everything, I bought all the CD’s, the record bags, the T-shirts, the magazines. Like it said in the inner sleeves if you are a footballer you want to play at Wembley and if you are a DJ you want to play at Ministry. I wanted to play at Ministry and I packed up my stuff and went for it and have never looked back’.
Dave enjoyed successful residencies on the London bar and club scene for a number of years until he was offered a position at Ministry working on the promotions team of the legendary Saturday Sessions. This lead Dave to working with and playing alongside the greatest names in the Dance world from Masters At Work to Laurent Garnier, from Eric Morillo to Danny Rampling, the list of true House greats has been an integral part of Vega’s development as a DJ.
At present Dave is enjoying a career as a producer on Ministry of Sound Radio, one of the Worlds most listened to Dance music stations. This has lead to him mixing and producing the Ministry of Sound Dance Party, a globally syndicated radio programme which goes out to over 5 million people per week around the World and represents the best in upfront Dance.

Part 2: The Russell Club

Dave Vega is very proud to present the mighty Russell Club each and every Sunday evening 10pm to midnight, a totally unique and alternative show for true lovers of Music. The Russell Club is a melting pot of Music crossing genres and tastes to create a unique and entertaining listening experience. The sounds range from 50's Rock 'n' Roll to minimal techno, wading through Punk, Ska, Reggae, Hip Hop and everything in Between. In Vega's own words 'I started playing records to other people (DJing as they call it) from an early age and became obsessed with Dance music. Before that I was obsessed with The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix and The Who, all that stuff and that all went out of the window to be replaced by House music. I spent all my money on records and spent all my time in clubs and behind the decks. I managed to forge a career out of it all and then decided to do a complete U turn on House music and go back to my roots. I still love House music and always will but I am now very happy in actually expressing alot of diffrent sounds in my sets and giving people something different rather than a mix up of the current hot 20 tunes.'

Dave is in the process of setting up what he has been talking about for so long, The mighty Russell Club. The Russell Club is a club, a community of people who enjoy good music and good times.
