the end

Going through Bryan Gee's life story is like opening the bible of dance
music. Since his move to London in the 80s, Bryan has been at the
cutting edge of new music and has been a crucial link in the logical
evolution of the sound that has now led to drum and bass. No one better
than him can explain that this sound, that seems to come from nowhere,
is the result of a long and very natural progression, and is deeply
rooted.

Movement was destined to cater for the whole spectrum of the scene,
and give more exposure to the sounds of V and Full Cycle. Started as a
Monday night in a Chelsea club, Movement quickly moved to the very
central Bar Rumba every Thursday and exploded, and so did Bryan’s
profile on the bigger scene.

Being busy playing at Movement, now a weekly, monthly and
festival-friendly organisation, Bryan’s A&R flair who, on a trip to Sao
Paulo, signed local heroes Marky and Patife for the Brasil EP in 2000,,
putting the country on the world drum and bass map. Two years later,
Marky went on to release ‘LK’ for V, giving Bryan’s label its first top
20.

2003 saw the release of another Movement mix and a Drum and Bass Fiesta album, followed in 2004 by a Planet V one. Bryan’s next discovery,
Artifical Intelligence, became the flagship of his next venture, the
‘Liquid V’ subsidiary. Catering for the more melodic side of drum and
bass, it features guest appearances by D Bridge, Calibre, and more
liquid Funk heroes. Monthly London residencies and worldwide nights are
spreading the Liquid V sound, with the first mix CD ‘Liquid V In
Session’ released late 2005 to be followed in spring 2006 by the second
instalment mixed by AI.
