Jamiroquai are back!

It's been a long time indeed since we last heard from the space cowboy. Seven years in fact. But just when we needed him most, Jay Kay has arrived back on earth and he's brought with him news of an upcoming eight studio album.

Automaton will be released on 32nd March via Virgin EMI and will be written and self-produced by Jay Kay and Jamiroquai keyboardist Matt Johnson. In celebration, they've just released the official video for title track, "Automaton".

Described as "a slice of neo-noir science fiction", the video was directed by Charlie Lightening (Arcade Fire, Bjork) and is a welcome addition to the canon of fantastic Jamiroquai videos, that includes "Canned Heat", "Little L", and "Virtual Insanity".

Jay Kay describes Automaton as, "The inspiration for Automaton is in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings. "

So there you go.

Jamiroquai have also announced a unique intimate headline show at The London Roundhouse on the day of album release, 31st of March.
