Before he plays A Night In Paradise, Ricky Morrison, has recorded a tribute to the legendary label
As anybody who knows their disco to name an influential label in the genre and nine times out of ten they'll go with Salsoul. For those who lived through the first wave their stamp on the wax was the sign of a must buy in the record store, and for those of coming to the genre in 2016, their logo is a near constant presence of our after party YouTube binges.
The label, which comes from 70s street slang for the musical culture of Latinos who mixes soul classics with salsa music, has been at the forefront of two waves of disco, and is spearheading the third of wave of disco nostalgia.
Such an iconic label deserves an iconic tribute and they don't come much more special than this, original house DJ Ricky Morrison has put together 45 minutes of stomping disco and funk classics. A stable of the 1980s UK house circuit, Ricky is perhaps best known for teaming up with Fran Sidoli to form M&S Productions.
M&S are the production masterminds behind "Salsoul Nugget (If You Wanna)". Practically everyone who's ever set foot on a dancefloor will be familiar with their Salsoul-sampling chart-topping floor-filling smash. A non-profit event celebrating all things Paradise Garage and the clubs, DJs and sounds it and it’s helmsman Larry Levan have since, and continue to inspire.
