All the news you missed from the world of dance music this weekend

London Has A Night Mayor

Comedienne and broadcaster, Amy Lamé, has been announced as London's new Night Tsar. The role, which was created by Sadiq Khan, in one of his first roles as Mayor of London, is to represent the interests of the capital's night time industries. Recent years have seen a spate of club closures across the city and will be something the 45 year old New Jersey native will hope to put an end to. Lamé's credentials for the role include being Mayor of Camden from 2010-2011 and being heavily involved in the fight to save Vauxhall Tavern. As a Labour and LGBT activist, Lamé is no stranger to fighting for causes she believes in and we're looking forward to seeing what she achieves for our industry.

We Might Have A Release Date For The New Gorillaz Album

After a series of Instagram stories to catch us up with the various members of fictional band The Gorillaz, anticipation for their fifth studio album has been at a fever pitch. Although The Gorillaz themselves have been talking to the press, Damon Albarn has remained tight-lipped about when we can expect the album. But now it seems we have been given a clue, in the most unlikeliest of places - OK Cupid. An eagle-eyed journalist discovered a profile which belonged to the band's guitarist/keyboardist, Noodle. The profile states that she's a 26 year old "Queer, Woman, Single" from London and that she's looking for "people, located anywhere ages 18-99 for new friends". But most tantalisingly, the profile contains a cryptic message "Ready? 12:11 xx DA". The DA almost certainly refers to Damon Albarn, the "ready?" could be in reference to new music and the "12:11", we're hoping, is a release date. Whether it's the release date for a new track, or the full album, and whether it's 12th November or 11th December, remains to be seen.
