Everything you missed from the world of dance music this weekend

10 Injured As Roof Collapses At Steve Aoki Gig

It's been a roller coaster week for Steve Aoki. Just days after being acquitted for breaking a fans neck, a planned Olso show has ended in disaster. Steve was due to perform at Sentrum Scene in Olso. The venue was at capacity of 1800 people when the roof began to crumble. Early reports state that a chunk of the roof then collapsed around the stage area, injuring fifteen fans. It's thought Steve had yet to take to the stage when the collapse happened. After the event, he tweeted out the above messages of support.

Listen To 24 Hours Of Aphex Twin

As a producer and artists, Aphex Twin has always been shrouded in mystery, to the delight of his ever-burgeoning cult following. In recent years he's become known for releasing his music in unexpected and unexplained ways, like when he uploaded 100 previously unrelesed tracks to SoundCloud last year. Over the weekend a mix appeared on Internet Archive which runs through most of his work over 24 hours. The mix came with the description: "Aphex Twin - The Mix
24 hour RDJ Megamix PLUR!". The use of the term PLUR makes it unlikely the mix has come from Richard D James himself, but stranger things have happened.

Diplo Takes Another Jab At The EDM Community

In an interview where he revealed that the new M.I.A song was part recorded in a car park, Diplo mused further on the conspiracy theory that was EDM. “All these DJs were already big- they were already part of conglomerate management companies and festival circuits”. In a subtle dig at Tiesto (?), Pentz indicates that companies always need to find new ways to sell their products, with EDM ending up as a marketing by-product. With his left right and centre swiping, Diplo looks like he’s abandoning the EDM ship before it sinks without him.

Maceo Plex Added To Space Ibiza Closing Party

Maceo Plex, who has been steadily evolving into one of the biggest draws on the White Isle, has been added to the already packed final party at Space. The day and night event, which will host 1500 revellers, will be the your last chance to party at Space Ibiza in its current form. Although rumours have been circulating that they may reopen in another location in as soon as two years time, the current venue is to de taken over by the Ushuaia group later this year. Maceo Plex will be joining Tale Of Us, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Anja Schneider, Josh Wink and, of course, Carl Cox.
