The legendary club is to be immortalised on screen
Exciting news for cinephiles today as it's been revealed that a feature film about the legendary Paradise Garage is in production. The New York venue ran for a decade from 1977 - 1987 and was the original inspiration behind our London nightclub.
The film will be directed by Jonathan Ullman, who previously worked on a documentary covering the 2014 block party honouring the Garage's most revered resident, Larry Levan.
The Paradise Garage is widely credited with being the launch pad for dance music and the model for modern clubbing. The film will explore the importance of the club to the members of the predominantly black and LGBT community that frequented it.
British actor Kobna Holdbrook-Smith has been confirmed for the role of Levan, but the film has yet to receive an official release date.
