A petition has been started to get Carl Cox recognised on 2017's MBE list
The motion has been raised by Clapham based festival SW4, where Carl will be playing alongside The Chemical Brothers on Sunday 28th of August.
The petition calls for him to be recognised for “four decades of devoting himself to his art form and dedicating his life to spreading the sounds of UK house and techno to the four corners of the planet”.
It cites his professionalism and dedication as a DJ, calling his passion for dance music "unparalleled".
If the petition were to receive 2,500 signatures - which is looking likely - it’ll be received by David Cameron, who will probably be relieved to get a bit of light hearted work after the 2016 he's had.
MBE stands for Member of the British Empire, and recipients get to meet the queen and have the sword on shoulder treatment.
Carl would be in good company too, as the MBE list for DJs currently holds legends such as Goldie, Annie Nightingale, Norman Jay and Pete Tong.
You can sign the petition and make history here.
