Everything that happened in dance music this weekend

New York Nightclub Verboten Seized By Taxman

In a timely reminder that April is the beginning of the new tax year, New York clubbing institution Verboten hit the headlines this weekend when it was seized by authorities after non-payment of taxes. According to Thump, Verboten currently has three open warrants for unpaid sales tax totalling $360,000. Over the weekend the owners filed for bankruptcy which should enable the club to stay open while the debt is restructured.

Demand For Avicii Tickets Spiked

After his shock retirement announcement last week, Avicii's current tour is likely to be his last. This realisation has prompted a huge surge in interest for tickets, with global ticket seller Viagogo reporting a 151% spike in demand for tickets. Avicii's last ever UK live date is likely to be Creamfields over the August bank holiday.

Skrillex Might Be Teaming Up With Rick Ross For Suicide Squad Theme

It's been kind of a bad year for DC Comics. Batman Vs Superman opened to dreadful reviews and has done pretty lacklustre numbers at the box office. DC will be hoping to salvage 2016 with the release of long-awaited baddie ensemble piece, Suicide Squad. It seems like the squad might be gaining a new member, as Skrillex dropped an unreleased track at Atlanta's Wav Nightclub on Saturday. The track featured Rick Ross rapping a 'suicide squad' hook and has sparked speculation that the two have collaborated on the movie's theme song.

Jeremy Corbyn To Speak At Glastonbury

While the bulk of the Glastonbury 2016 lineup was unveiled last week, the Worthy Farm organisers were clearly holding back the big guns, as over the weekend they announced that Labour leader, and confirmed party starter Jezza C will be taking to the Left Field Stage. This year's festival has already made headlines as it will take place during the UK's EU referendum weekend, meaning that Corbyn's appearance could prove even more controversial than Kanye West's if he accidentally contributes to the UK's withdrawal from Europe.

April Fools Day Happened

Among the dance music related April Fools pranks were reports that Disney was set to buy Tomorrowland, Donald Trump was to host a stage at EDC, Deadmau5 was retiring and a rogue batch of pills were causing permanent dick shrivel.
