DJ Derek, who was the UK's oldest performing DJ when was reported missing on the 11th of July last year, has sadly been found dead.

The discovery was made in a woodland by Cribbs Causeway in Bristol on the afternoon of the 10th of March and subsequently reported to the police.

In an official statement the police said “While further tests need to be completed to confirm an identity, we have evidence to suggest they are of missing 73-year-old Bristol man Derek Serpell-Morris.”

This marks the end of a long eight month search for Derek, who was revered nationally for his talents as a reggae DJ.

Ministry of Sound would like to offer their condolences to all of Derek’s family and friends in this hard time.
