Will Ibiza continue to face sad news this year?
The forecast for the summer of 2016 reads like a rollercoaster of good and bad tidings. We’ve already reported on newly enforced club closing times, a nightmarish ordeal for those who live for Amnesia’s 2pm closing party cut off.
On the other hand, newer institutions like Sankey’s have pleased Ibiza eager beavers by announcing that instead of opening from the final week of May, they’ll be cracking the can open from the 1st. It's a move that will likely see other clubs follow suit, prolonging the summer season for another full month.
However, just when it was looking like an even playing field out there on the White Isle, the authorities have scored again with the news that powerhouse DC10 might be out of action for the entire year.
Local newspaper Diario De Ibiza reports that the club has been ‘on probation’ since 2008, due to overcrowding and problems with licensing. This year could see it facing closure for the season, knocking out one of the island’s main spots.
After scoring a magic twenty years of success, could 2016 be the year Ibiza finally faces the music as its reputation of unchartered fun catches up with it?
Only time will tell.
