The Grammys 2016

We've got the shortlist for the three dance music categories right here.

The nominees for the 2016 Grammy's are in!

The Grammys are basically the Oscars of the music business, so every December when the shortlists for the forthcoming year are released, you can always expect a whirlwind of activity in the music press. As extensive as the categories on offer at the Grammys are, for the past few years Grammys chat has almost always revolved around the pop and RnB world.

That said, the past few years have seen more and more electronic artists honoured. And credit where credit's due - at least the Grammy's actually bother to give electronic music three specialist awards, unlike a lot of UK music awards which shun the genre completely (we're looking at you, BRITs).

The categories on offer in the dance / electronic category are Best Recording (which basically means best track) and Best Album. The Non-Classical award in the Best Remixer category is also traditionally a dance music award.

While the shortlist for the three biggest awards (Best Artist, Best Recording, Best Album), feature no electronic artists this year, it's still good to see a strong selection of artists in the genre specific awards. Also Diplo managed to scoop a Producer Of The Year nomination for his work with Madonna, Riff Raff, Jack Ü and, of course, Major Lazer, so well done to him.

You can have a look at the shortlists for the three electronic categories below and see the full nominee shortlists over on the GRAMMY's website.
