One of the most iconic rave-era films will be getting a sequel
Trainspotting released in 1996, portrays a handful of Edinburgh heroin addicts trying to find their ways in life. Director Danny Boyle confirmed that his next film would almost definitely be Trainspotting 2 permitted some scheduling hurdles from the original cast could be ironed out.
The original movie is based on a novel by Irvine Welsh and the sequel will be based on Welsh’s 2002 follow up to Trainspotting titled 'Porno'. Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Robert Carlyle (the four original cast members) have confirmed they will be in the sequel and Boyle has assured us that the screenplay for it is “fantastic”.
You might not know this, but Irvine Welsh is a big fan of Ministry of Sound, so much so that he designed our original VIP area and 'Ministry of Sound' is mentioned three times in the Trainspotting novel - so fingers crossed for a shoutout in the new film!
The bar was set very high with the original film but Boyle has proven himself as an extremely consistent film maker time and time again.
