Good News! Dancing like a maniac in the mud burns a lot more calories than you thought!

It seems like you might not have to feel so guilty about sacking off the gym for a festival

Some benevolent data crunchers at tech company Withings have calculated how many calories you're likely to burn by attending the UK's most popular festivals. They've developed a range of tracking products to find out how much energy you use during typical festival activities like a five hour rave in Shangri-La or an hour in a Reading mosh pit. They've combined this data with other factors such as analysing the size of the festival site  to create a rough approximation of how much a weekend in the mud can affect your waistline.

They've come out with the astonishing conclusion that the average festival goer will burn between 400-700 calories during each act and will dance for up to eight hours per day. When you add in carrying all your booze from the car to the campsite, impromptu piggy backs, setting up your tent and maybe the odd sprint out of the rain, it seems like you needn't worry about that burger and chips you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

So armed with this new information that our love of festivals might not necessarily be as bad for our waistlines as we first thought we've ranked the top ten fat burning festivals in the UK.

While the day long beach party hosted by T4 is the least likely to keep you in shape.
