Anjunabeats heavyweight, Andrew Bayer, gives us his top five before his headline set at The Gallery this Friday
With The Gallery faithful now more than familiar with Andrew’s vibrant and emotive club performances. We decided to get him to give us an exclusive top five from outside the world of dance music. Here he details some more 'traditional' tracks from which he gains inspiration.
Johann Johannsson - "IBM 1401 A User’s Manual"
Andrew Bayer: This whole piece is absolutely incredible. I’m so glad he is getting the recognition he deserves with his score of The Theory of Everything (which was also majestic). I managed to find a youtube link with two parts on it. It sounds like the world is ending, but it’s somehow hopeful. Life changing piece of music.
Bon Iver - "Babys"
This song is my life. The (real) minimalism of it; the use of pedal. Everything.
D’Angelo and The Vanguard - "Really Love"
Kate Bush - "Moments of Pleasure" (Director’s Cut)
Kate is a goddess. Got to see her at the Apollo last summer. I will remember that for the rest of my life. This version of one of my favourite songs of all time just destroys my life.
Gavin Bryers Feat. Tom Waits - "Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet"
Gotta just read the wiki about it.
