Nile Rogers, B.Traits and RAM Records to give talks at London Electronic Arts Festival this Friday
Disco legend, Chic founder and Daft Punk collaborator Nile Rogers will be hosting a three hour talk at this year's LEAF festival at Tobacco Dock. The dance visionary apparently takes issue with being interrupted or moderated, so LEAF have taken the wise decision to give him a platform to talk as long as he wants about whatever takes his fancy. We're hoping he'll focus on anecdotes from the glory years of Chic, divulge some info on his upcoming material, and of course, talk about working with the robots.
Other people hosting talks on Friday include Canadian tastemaker B.Traits, RAM Records, Ninja Tune and Black Butter Records. Another highlight of Friday will be the Point Blank Masterclass sessions presented by an allstar line-up of talent including Warehouse Project chief Sasha, house duo Dusky, Ed Banger head Busy P and producer extraordinaire Ben Pearce.
Meanwhile Native Instruments will be running a series of presentations on the future of sound and technology within dance music, while the people behind the biggest stage in Britain - Arcadia, will divulge how they made a 50 tonne fire-breathing rave spider.
Friday will close out with a live concert featuring the glitchy greatness of Modeselektor, while techno titans 808 State will perform a live rendition of their iconic album Ninety and Kate Simko will be joined by the London Electronic Orchestra.
On Saturday the time for talk is over as the festival shifts focus to the dancefloor with an all day party with one of the most forward-thinking lineups this year. Techno don Chris Liebing will be joined by DJ Harvey, Rob Da Bank, Luciano and Tale Of Us.
