Before he supports Giuseppe Ottaviani and Sean Tyas at The Gallery this Friday,we had a quick catch up with Solarstone
Hi there, I hope this day finds you well?
Feeling pretty good today, just finished a remix for Giuseppe’s GO On Air label in time for the deadline!
Firstly Happy New Year, how did you see in 2015?
Thanks. New Years Eve is a tricky one for me, because my son’s birthday is on New Years Day, so usually I spend NYE with family in the UK so I can see him on his birthday morning.
Friday sees Giuseppe bring ‘GO On Air’ to The Gallery for a first time. Are you excited to be part of the night?
Absolutely. Giuseppe has worked so hard building up the label, I know he’s very passionate about this launch party being a success, I’m going to do my best to help ensure that happens.
Will there be any difference in track selection, compared to a standalone Gallery night at Ministry of Sound?
For him, most certainly! I’ll definitely be selecting a few of my favourite tracks from Giuseppe’s label for my set.
How will the live online broadcast affect your performance on the night, does this entail a different approach?
It does put certain limits on it. DJs don’t test out new, unfinished material when a show is being broadcast. This is the key reason why we restrict how many broadcasted events I play in a year, and they need to be agreed well in advance.
How have your recent series of ‘Pure Trance’ nights been going, has the concept been well received?
It’s been really good. We’re always asked to return to do another show, which speaks for itself. There’s so much love for this music, and the events are kind of like a ‘family occasion’, everyone has the same passion for the music. We’ve yet to stage one in London.
One track you will definitely be playing on Friday is…
The remix I just completed for Giuseppe of course!
Any hot tips for breakthrough artist for 2015?
Gai Barone, without a doubt.
Finally, use three words to describe your forthcoming set?
Warm, emotional & melodic.
