Judge Jules

Ahead of his performance next weekend, we caught up with Judge Jules to ask him about balancing DJing and Lawyering.

Ahead of his set at Ministry of Sound on November 21st, we caught up with special guest Judge Jules to discuss his current sets, upcoming releases and how he juggles being a music lawyer, DJ and producer

Hi Jules, how are you doing today?

Very well thanks!

Your last appearance at Ministry of Sound was in April, what is your best memory of the night?

It’s the sea of people from the booth.  Every club, festival and gig location gives one a different vista over the crowd and the dance floor and the Ministry is a particularly special sea of waving arms.

How did the Black Hole imprint get involved with your recent track "Naked?"

I’d been testing it all summer in Ibiza to awesome reaction, and Black Hole asked to sign it on first listen. The deal was done in about 24 hours.

Is it difficult to balance your office day job with spending the necessary time in the studio?

I split my time between being a music lawyer (specialising in dance music, obviously) during the week and DJing at weekends. The studio stuff gets squeezed in during midweek night times. There’s not much relaxation time left once all the above is accounted for, but very little of what I do feels like work so I’m not complaining.

Do you have any upcoming releases planned on the Vandit label?

My next single, "Insane", has just been finished.

Who is your tip for breakthrough artist of 2015?

Max Freegrant.

One track you will definitely be playing on Friday is…?

Smash & Grab – "It’s F***ing Rockin".

Finally, describe your upcoming set in three words?

More energy than plugging yourself in at the mains.

See Judge Jules in person when he will be a special guest with John O Callaghan at The Gallery.
