The track appears on the Anjunadeep 06 compilation, and features vocals from Eli & Fur. We grabbed ten minutes with the emerging producer to find out what makes him tick.

Hi Clancy! You’ve just released “I Wanna Know” on Anjunadeep, talk us through the track, how did it come about, how did Eli & Fur become involved?

Clancy: I was in the studio a few months back and got an email from Eli & Fur asking if I was up for doing a track with them. I had a track which I was just finishing off so I sent that to them, within a few days they’d sent back some vocals which I loved. I actually ended up changing the original track I’d sent over to them completely and "I Wanna Know" was the final result - simple as that!

What’s your story, how did you get into DJing?

I started DJing in Manchester but it was the production side that I really wanted to get in to. I moved to London to do a production course at Point Blank in Hoxton which I loved. Met some really inspiring people who actually made you believe you can succeed in this industry. I guess you could describe it as a bit of a life changing decision really. DJing comes hand in hand with production in terms of giving you the chance to play your own records out – it is an amazing feeling when you see a crowd going nuts to one of your own tracks!

When did you first fall for house music?

When I first started going to Sankey’s in Manchester – literally had some of the best times of my life in that club. The atmosphere and people, combined with the music and DJs was such an infectious combination and still is today. I’ve never played there, it’s right at the top of my wish list clubs to play.

What track are you obsessed with right now?

One from the vaults that I’ve been playing in a lot of my DJ sets recently – beautifully crafted piece of electronic music. Nathan Fake – "The Sky Was Pink" (Holden Remix)

What’s the best gig you’ve been to and why?

Seeing Dixon at DC10 a couple of weeks ago was up there with some of the best I’ve ever seen.

What are your guilty pleasures?

There’s no such thing! If you like it, you like it. Back yourself. Just because someone else tells you it’s shit or not cool doesn’t mean to say you shouldn’t be into it

What do you collect aside from records?

Headphones – although not by choice. I’m constantly leaving mine in clubs - I must buy about 5 new pairs every year. It’s an expensive hobby.

Tell us the most illegal thing you’ve done.

Ha, I’ve never done anything illegal in my entire life!

What’s the most interesting thing in your house?

The spider that lives on the stairs – it’s fucking massive

What’s your lamest claim to fame?

I used to be in a band and we were managed by Bruce Jones, AKA Les Battersby from Coronation Street – the guy was off his head!

What are you obsessed with right now?

Monday Night Football with Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville – best program on TV.

What’s your pet hate?

People who walk out of shops and then stop in the doorway to figure out which way they’re gonna go. Literally drives me mental.
