Your previous Gallery visit was last October, for Toolroom’s anniversary celebrations. How was that night?

For a DJ, performing at Ministry of Sound is always a dream. I’m so proud to be part of a legendary institution.

Why is The Box, suited to the sound of your Deeperfect label?

My label, Deeperfect and the sound attributed to it, has a lot of fans in UK.  I usually change the overall sound of my live sets a bit depending on the situation... I tend to make my sets at Ministry more energetic, because I get such a buzz when I play there.

We're loving your latest track “Million Units”, what was the inspiration behind this?

The track goes back to the sound of techno music in the nineties… It’s a sound that really gets the crowd gripped, because my style is often mixed with tech house.

Was there much tweaking of the arrangement, before reaching this final version?

Yes, I produced the track with Paco Maroto and it took us a long time to reach the standard we had in mind. The vocal part took us a lot of time too, as it’s quite elaborate.

Name one tune you will definitely be playing on Friday?

“Million Units” for sure, "Loove" - that will be released at the end of July and then "Close your Eyes", that’s gonna be released later on. The track is finished and I love it, but we’re waiting for some remixes.

Apart from the club, where else do you like to visit when in London?

I usually do a lot of shopping…of vinyls! Not only in vinyl shops but where you find vintage items and - if you’re lucky, rare records.

What upcoming projects should fans look out for?

I’m always working on many things. A new single from Daniel Selfmade, which will be remixed by Pig & Dan and Mendo, and a new collaboration with Mendo, which will be released in September.

Finally use three words to describe your forthcoming set?

I’ll play a tech / tech house set, at about 126-127 BPM. As I said, I think that my music will be full of energy, as that's what I feel when I’m in Ministry of Sound. It's probably the crowd: they give it to me and I give it back!

That was a lot more than three words Stefano, but we'll let you off this time!

You can catch Stefano playing alongside UMEK and Hollen on Friday 18th July. Tickets available now.
