Resident Picks

Our resident DJ, Sheldon, picks his "tracks that made me want to become a DJ".

Every week we ask one of our residents to choose a selection of tracks following a theme. This week Simon Cowell confirmed that - for better or worse - he was working on an X-Factor style DJ talent competition. So we decided to ask Sheldon to give us his "tracks that made me want to become a DJ". Over to you Sheldon!

Mark Knight - Susan

Sheldon: No. 1 for me has to be Mark Knight, he has been a big influence to me since first stepping into The Box to see him play when I was just 18. But hearing this record on his Sessions  album blew me away. Beautiful!

Paul Kalkbrenner - Square 1

Watching Paul Kalkbrenner play live for the first time combined with watching Berlin Calling  definitely has made me want to succeed as an artist. Any record from Paul is just magical!

Pryda - Melo

When myself and my best friend saw Eric Prydz play for the first time, the setting was magical - a festival with the sun going down. When he dropped this, in the awesome way he does, it was probably one the best moments I have experienced.

Delirium - Silence

For me one of the best vocals ever recorded and the amount of times this has been thrown on a record has been super special. Inspiration is just written all over this one!!

Youssou N'Dour & Neneh Cherry - 7 Seconds Away

A different one to finish this selection. Not necessarily one that made me want to be a DJ, but in general hearing my mother playing this when I was growing up definitely made me want to become an artist. This record holds so much emotion and memories.
