Check out the interview Erick did for SW4 recently where he talks more about Sympho Nympho...

Hi Erick, Where in the world are you right now and what are you doing?

I am in Ibiza and in the car with my wife. I’m on my way to the north of the island to go snorkelling.

What was the first club you went to in Ibiza?
The first club I ever went to and actually played at was Space back in 1993 and it was a different place back then. It didn’t have a roof and terrace, the DJ booths were on the bar by the bartender, but definitely it was the place to be back in those days.

Can you tell us about the move away from your Reel 2 Real alias, and your decision to found Subliminal?
Well Reel 2 Reel was something when it first started, it was very underground house, a weird one but a very underground house record and it grew out of that, and the fact that it did become perhaps a commercial success in the UK, and started up around Europe and around the world. It just gave me an opening to be able to produce what became pop at that point and then I did that for a couple of albums and then after that it was about getting back to what I started. With the underground house records that I love making and that’s what Subliminal came from. You know at the time with managing a bunch of guys – Romero, Jose Nunez, DJ Sneak, it was just a perfect place to develop it and continue to create music that I love. But Reel 2 Real is something that was never going to go away from me and the music that I love making just became something bigger than anyone ever expected.

Can you give us an insight into the release schedule of the label, any albums from yourself?
Absolutely. We have a bunch of music coming out. First of all we have a new compilation coming out end of July and that I’ve mixed with Sympho Nympho as well with Romero and Jose Nunez and you know its two CDs and it’s banging. We also have a record coming out with a reggae MC called ‘Conscience’ and the name of that record is called ‘Murder’. That record is ridiculous. We’re shooting the video in New York on July 2nd, and it should be out later in July. And then we also have a record coming out with Sean Paul called ‘Want You Tonight.’ That’s coming out in September. We’ve got a record coming out with Sneaky Sound System called ‘Bringing It Up’. There’s a lot of music coming out actually. And an album that’s pretty much ready to go at the release this upcoming music. We also have some tracks with Dizzee Rascal on his album. One called ‘Wreck The Bass’, ‘Drop’, and the other one’s called ‘Nympho’. So when his albums out, that is going to be out as well. So there’s a lot of music coming.

You’re also debuting Sympho Nympho. For those not in the know could you tell us about what it is? How it came about? And what people should expect?
Sympho Nympho is a group that myself, Romero and Jose Nunez have started and it’s gonna be featuring a bunch of different artists from different spectrums of the music world. We’re putting a bit of dubstep, a bit of house, a little techno, a little trance, a little bit of everything. But you know just good dance music so I am really, really excited. The album as I said is already done. We’re going to be releasing some singles over the next three to four months and I’m really excited about it. Then we have put together a live show as well, that I think you’re really going to enjoy. That’s kind of where it’s at.
