This dutch DJ has had more worldwide hits then we’ve had hot dinners! Cranking out massive dance floor destroyers, performing to sold out shows, countless number one records and more awards than most artists will ever have – Sander Van Doorn is unstoppable. We caught up with the man himself before he embarks on another busy summer....

Hi Sander! You first dropped 'Nothing Inside' at Miami this year to a huge reaction - tell us how the track came about? How and when did you write it, and how did you come to work with Mayaeni as the vocalist?

Mayeani came to me with a song. I produced around it and we tested it live together at Miami.

What would you describe as the Sander van Doorn sound, and how has that changed during your career?

I would say energetic house with influences of all kinds of styles

You said in a recent interview that you're thinking of working towards a new artist album - can you tell us any more about that?

I just finished a lot of tracks which I’m now testing during my gigs, and who knows? Maybe there will be a new album in the near future.

Who would you most like to work with who you haven't worked with yet, and why?

Radiohead because they’ve always been a big inspiration for my own productions.

Through running your record label Doorn Records & hosting your Identity radio show you regularly support up & coming talent - which up & coming DJs/artists do you recommend we start following?

Keep your eye on Julian Jordan. We just made a track together, Kangaroo, which will release on August 30th.

Do you have any top tips for aspiring DJ/producers - it's increasingly tough to get a big break in the music industry these days, so how can they help themselves to get noticed?

Always try to be unique in what you do. Every week I receive a lot of demo’s for Doorn Records but most of them all sound the same. Think out of the box and use unique sounds. Try to built your track different then others.

You're back at Ministry of Sound for Funk Farm on 4th August - what does it feel like to DJ here and what makes it special for you?

It’s good to be back and the audience always give me great energy.

What top 5 tracks are destroying the dancefloor at your gigs right now?

  1. Sander van Doorn & Julian Jordan – Kangaroo
  2. Pryda – Allein
  3. Chocolate Puma & Firebeatz – Just one more time baby
  4. Tommy Trash vs. Digitalism – Falling
  5. Mike Snow – Devil’s Work (Dirty South Remix)

You're incredibly busy DJing, producing, running your record label Doorn Records, hosting your own night in Ibiza and your Identity radio show - which hat do you most like to wear and why?

Actually, I like everything that has to do with music and my fans.

If you weren't in music, what would you be doing?

I was very young when I knew I wanted to be in music. So before that, every little boys dream… I would be a fireman or a policeman ;-)

What's coming up next for you, and what would you still like to achieve that you haven't already in your music career?

My new single with Julian Jordan; Kangaroo. I would like to achieve that my career keeps going up and that I can make people happy with my music for a long time.
