A love of music starts for many reasons.
Some are born with it, while others are influenced by their friends or parents. For Mike the musical journey started after getting in to a spot of trouble at school.
Thirteen year old Mike first learnt to DJ after a family friend was drafted in to keep him out of trouble by teaching him to mix. That year, his parents bought him a pair of belt-driven turntables for Christmas and he was soon hooked. Initially drawn to a jungle soundtrack, his interest soon expanded to include music from all areas of the electronic music spectrum.
During a two-year stint (2007-2008) holding summer residencies in Crete, Mike had the opportunity to warm up for his hero, DJ EZ. "I used to just watch what he did during his sets and spend the whole of the next day practicing the mixes he had done the night before," says Mike. Since then, he has played at some of the most prestigious venues in the UK, including (but not limited to) XOYO, Pacha, Plan B, and Ministry of Sound.
After 3-years producing shows at Radio 1 & 1Xtra, Mike now presents the flagship new music show on Ministry of Sound Radio (Mon-Fri, 7-9pm). This has already seen him hosting the official radio broadcast for EDC Las Vegas, and fly out to Ibiza to broadcast shows from the White Isle.
And why electronic music? “The greatest thing about electronic music for me, is that it borrows elements from every musical genre and culture in the world. The result is a sound that everyone can relate to, regardless of age, gender, or cultural background. That's why I love it so much." Enough said.
