Mark began producing drum and bass in 1998 and then progressed into Dubstep/Grime under the artist name MRK1.
With releases on the likes of Sony, Universal, EMI, Polydor, Ministry of Sound, and Defected to name a few has seen Mark became one of the leading producers in this genre.
In 2013, Mark formed the alias of “Lokate” and started to produce house music. His DJ style covers the broad spectrum of house music, tailoring each of djs set to the crowd and venue.
After the fantastic reception that greeted his breakthrough house track “Beat Junkie”, the award winning record label, Black Butter Records (home of Rudimental, Gorgan City, Clean Bandit) went on to sign it. Blackbutter signed “Beat Junkie” along with two further tracks which went on to be released in 2014.
Following Mark’s debut releases on Black Butter he made his follow up track “Flow” featuring Doctor (Sigma, Chase N Status) and Bay C (from Grammy Award winning Reggie super group TOK). Premiered on BBC 1XTRA by DJ Target, within a week it had become BBC 1XTRA’s weekend anthem.
Following the success of “FLOW” Mark has continued to release music with Black Butter Records, Sub Soul, Armada, and Simma Black.
Mark as Lokate recently remixed Low Steppa’s track “So Real” for Universal Music.
Mark as a DJ has played all over the world, including major festivals such as Glastonbury, Sonar (Barcelona), Burning Man (USA), Ten days off (Belgium), Paleo (France), Ros Kilde (Denmark), Wilsonic (Slovakia), CREAM (UK), GLADE (UK) etc.
