Saturday Sessions: Los Suruba, Lauren Lo Sung, Jody Barr | Saturday 23rd July | Starts 11pm
Ministry of Sound Regulars, Los Suruba, headline Saturday Sessions on Saturday 23rd July.
Los Suruba (real names Delmar and Alvaro) are a duo amidst a new generation of fine underground artists who exemplify this inventory, no mean feat in a country that houses some of the most influential European talent to break the scene over the past few years. While it would be easy to assume that this ‘all out party’ sentiment is the principle theme of their music, Los Suruba is much more than that. Traversing the Barkly pleasurable, serious and fun (deep house, tech house, techno), a Los Suruba set will find you immersed in a world of limitless possibilities, an abstract journey of feelings and sounds that capture the beauty of every precious moment.
Lauren Lo Sung is known for her dub techno sound entwined with; grooves, breaks and impeccable basslines, influenced by the intricacies of Chicago and Detroit house. The warm textures and ascribed complex layers of sound still keep true to her roots with that UK underground feel.
Throughout her career, Lauren has shown true determination along side her natural flair, which simultaneously has led to a number of her productions being released on labels such as Deep Tech Records, DRAFT and soon Hector's Vatos Locos imprint.
Joining them in The Box is a relative newcomer to the game, Jody Barr. Jody enjoyed a breakout 2015, fast becoming a force to be reckoned with; synonymous with raw infectious analogue driven grooves delivered from a hardware laden studio. Describing his style as “technofied house music”, he’s been gathering support from a number of the industry’s heavy hitters, with the likes of Sasha, Adam Beyer, Laurent Garnier and Maceo Plex already amongst his fast growing fanbase.
Over in 103, RM Records take over with a very special guest headliner to be announced. Label founders LongPlay are London based DJs and producers Andy King, Danny Langan and Dave Winney. With upcoming releases on Groove Odyssey, Plastik People, Audio Rehab, RM Records and Simma Black in the pipeline, the trio are certainly ones to watch.
