Fresh off the back of their 6th Anniversary, Groove Odyssey's contribution to the soulful house scene has been unparalleled. Relentlessly curating some of the best musical showcases around, Groove Odyssey brings together people of all ages and backgrounds united by their love of house.
House music pioneers Masters At Work make a triumphant return to the capital as they headline our New Year’s Day festivities. Following on from last year’s monumental appearance as part of Defected Records 15th Birthday celebrations at our beloved club, MAW will play an extended set that will firmly place Ministry of Sound at the apex of the London clubbing calendar on New Year’s Day. Kenny Dope and Louie Vega will be pushing The Box’s peerless sound system to its limits as they lay down a house music masterclass. The native New Yorkers have assembled an outstanding body of work that spans three decades, with their performances at Ministry of Sound becoming stitched into the fabric of house music mythology.
MAW will be joined in The Box by UK soulful house stalwarts and Groove Odyssey residents Bobby&Steve. From warehouse parties in the eighties, to soul weekenders in the nineties, Bobby & Steve sure know how to get the party started. There is no doubt that the two have created a timeless legacy, and a chance to see them play alongside Masters At Work should not be missed.
Over in 103, the helms are handed over to Detroit Swindle, who will play a behemoth 5hr set. Hailing from The Netherlands, Lars Dales and Maarten Smeets are the perfect accompaniment to the main room line up, with their own productions being vibrant, contemporary interpretations of the classic sound that Masters At Work and Bobby & Steve are renowned for. With influences stretching from Motown, soul, funk, hip-hop and jazz, it’s easy to see why the duo are the hottest property on the market right now.
Thatmanmonkz joins the billing in 103, with the Sheffield based artist currently making huge waves on dancefloors across Britain. Resolutely underground and focussed on the more interesting corners of dance music, this really is an artist to keep a firm eye on in 2016. Following on from this we have RM Records founders LongPlay, with the trio following up on a stellar appearance at the club on Halloween.
The Jukely allocation will be run on a first come, first served basis on the night – this means that the first 800 people who have RSVP'd show up will get in for free, after that we’ll revert to our normal pricing structure. Jukely Pass members will get guaranteed entry.
NB: Each person is entitled to 1 ticket, so if you’re heading out with friends, make sure that they sign up too. Once you’re on the guest list, check in your inbox for email confirmation. We also recommend that you get down early, as entry is on a first come, first served basis.
