Techno star Derrick May plays The Box
On Saturday 11th October, Ministry of Sound bring together the Detroit techno stars Derrick May and Kenny Larkin with relative newcomers Maribou State and Kry Wolf. May and Larkin have been huge names on the techno and house scenes, originally making names for themselves in Detroit.
In 1987, Derrick May’s released his track “Nude Photo”, which helped kick-start the Detroit techno scene. He followed it up with “Strings of Life”, which went on to become one the most influential techno tracks ever produced. Meanwhile, Kenny Larkin made a huge name for himself when he was signed to Richie Hawtin’s Plus 8.
Alongside Derrick May and Kenny Larkin’s classic house and techno, Kry Wolf refuse to be pidgeon-holed, with productions varying from house, garage, funk to experimental. The duo, who are from the UK, are fast becoming recognised as one of the underground’s brightest rising talents.
Finishing the bill in The Box is Maribou State, whose hypnotic house sound will ease out of the speakers into the souls of the crowd. Since having releasing “Olivia”, the boys have gained support from all corners of the dance world. This special night will not be one to miss.
