What better way to see out 2007 and also the last ever night of Canvas than with a BIG BANG. Sparking the fuse are three of London’s most exciting club nights who have joined forces for the last word in parties. Bugged Out!, secretsundaze and Trailer Trash are all clubs that live up to the traditional meaning of the word: they all attract a loyal crowd of regulars, so come and whoop it up with your friends in what promises to be the best atmosphere on December 31st in London.
It’s the final countdown!
Bugged Out! have had one of their most exciting years yet with packed, noisy parties at The End, a couple of riotous East End warehouse parties and two nights at Canvas. The evergreen club night has also released compilations by Simian Mobile Disco, Klaxons and their first collection of ‘Classics’ which spans their lifetime so far: 1994-2007. Heading up the bill is one of the most exciting Dj’s around at the moment, to which anyone who saw Boys Noize at Bugged Out!’s birthday will attest. He certainly knows how to put the ‘oi!’ in noize with his frenetic party techno and, on the release of his debut album Erol Alkan called him “the most exciting producer of the year”. London techno legend (or ‘God’ according to Ricardo Villalobos) Andrew Weatherall played at Bugged Out!’s car park rave in September and also wowed the crowd in their tent at Field Day so it’s fitting that he joins us once again to round off a year which has seen him produce techno solo, and under his own name for the first time.
Who better to see the New Year in than Bugged Out! favourite JoJo De Freq. JoJo released ‘Saturn Returns’ on her own imprint Mythic at the beginning of 2007 and closes the year with an incredible remix of Miss Kittin’s ‘Kittin Is High’ which is sure to be one of the big tunes of the night. Matt Walsh, who warms up, recently did a mix for Turbo after wowing Tiga when he played with him at the Bugged Out! night at the T Bar in May. Closing the Bugged Out! room is Nadia Ksaiba who is Klaxons and Simian Mobile Disco’s tour Dj of choice.
2007 has been an incredible year for secretsundaze what with their regular summer parties on the terrace the talk of the town; hosting arena's at the TDK Cross Central festival, Lovebox Wildchild Outside; and their party at Parc Del Forum being one of the highlights of the off schedule Sonar events. They have just released their first compilation ‘secretsundaze volume 1’ mixed by the residents Giles Smith & James Priestley which has received heavy praise in the media and from punters alike.
Headlining the secretsundaze room will be none other than techno innovator Carl Craig. He really shouldn't need any introduction but suffice to say the word legend can be applied in his case. His productions and remixes (last years’ of Theo Parrish and this years’ of Junior Boys) are hotly anticipated and are always played by DJs across the board with their big, dramatic sound.
The buzz on Trailer Trash this year has been immense. Now in their third year they pitch up weekly at On The Rocks attracting a mad-for-it, flamboyant crowd. They’ve also thrown a couple of warehouse parties (one in a prison and the Kitsune hook up was a road block) and hosted rooms and tents at TDK Cross Central and the 1234 festival. The TT residents are a party enough in themselves with Mikki Most, Hannah Holland, Ian Robinson and Cormac at the helm. MC Chickaboo, the UK’s premier female MC, will be hollering over Hannah at the midnight hour. Joining them is special guest Riton who has spent 2007 on the Radio Soulwax tour and as a resident at We Love Sundays at Space. This room is gonna rock. Bring the noise!
The party will take place across the three adjoining rooms of Canvas and the terrace will be open all night for smokers. Canvas who shuts its doors after tonight, has witnessed many a rave in its previous form as Bagleys and has hosted the TDK Cross Central event for the past four years. Come party and pay your last respects to this legendary London venue.
